It is the centerpiece of the festival and a tradition now celebrated in cities around the world.
Stages across the festival site host performances all afternoon — from classical Indian dance to lively call-and-response chanting (kirtan). Musicians and dancers from Detroit and beyond fill the air with rhythm and melody. Feel free to clap, sing along, or just watch and enjoy.

Admission includes a free vegetarian lunch served until 3:00 PM, prepared by Govinda's Catering Service. Throughout the day, snack tents like Mother Subhadra's Snack Street serve popular Indian street foods — crispy filled pastries (samosas), spiced puffed-rice snacks (bhel puri), and sweet fried desserts (jalebi).
Watch skilled cooks prepare traditional vegetarian dishes live under the festival tents. Learn techniques for grain-free favorites, regional specialties, and festival classics — then taste the results. Demos are beginner-friendly and perfect for home cooks curious about Indian cuisine.
